South African company removes barriers to emissions reporting:
Despite the failure of the climate change conference in Copenhagen to achieve a binding treaty around carbon emission reductions, a South African company, sustainableIT has just developed TheCarbonReport.com, which now allows companies, irrespective of size, to measure and report on emissions through validated processes. NERSA, the National Energy Regulator for South Africa, has released a proposal for the introduction of feed-in tariffs for the country.
If implemented, this would be a milestone for South Africa’s renewables sector, as the establishment of support mechanisms are critical to attracting finance into the sector.
