energy_stats_hydroYesterday a new feature called “energyThe ability to perform work, mainly kinetic, potential, thermal energy, but also in forms of gravitational, sound, elastic and electromagnetic energy. statistics Europe” was launched on reegle. The aim of the underlying project was to create a tool to visualise renewable energyRenewable energy is power generated from infinite sources, such as wind or solar power. Conventional energy is generated from finite sources, such as natural gas or fossil oil. and relevant energy statistics on the reegle worldmap.

The first step is done, you now can overlay the map with several different statistics (source: Eurostat) including:

  • Share of renewablesRenewable energy is power generated from infinite sources, such as wind or solar power. Conventional energy is generated from finite sources, such as natural gas or fossil oil. (per type and country)
  • Renewable Energy Production (per type and country)
  • ElectricityA form of energy having magnetic, radiant and chemical effects. Electric current is created by a flow of electrons. generated from renewable sources
  • Index of GHG emissionsGreenhouse gas emissions cause dangerous anthropogenic climate change. Emissions include CO2, fluoridated gases, methane which are emitted by human activity such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, and water vapour. and targets

whereas all data is available for several years.

An example: Let us assume you want to know more about the share of hydro powerHydro power is electrical energy produced through the power of moving water.
Power obtained from the (typically gravitational) movement of water.
in relation to the gross energy production in European countries.

  • Go to http://www.reegle.info/map
  • Choose “Share of renewables: hydroHydro power is electrical energy produced through the power of moving water.
Power obtained from the (typically gravitational) movement of water.
powerUseful energy can be mechanical energy, for example powering a fan. (you will see a colored overlay on the map)
  • Click on one country and you will get the exact percentage

energy_stats_hydro

That’s only the first step – we are planning to include more statistics from all over the world and add energy potentials to this map. We hope you find that service useful and are (as always) happy to receive feedback (comment on this article or send us an email to office@reegle.info)

Btw: reegle is now availabe in Spanish and French too :-)
