Three Project Development & Financing Workshops for the shortlisted projects, participating in the CTI PFAN Africa Forum for Clean Energy Financing (AFRICEF), were held in May 2010 in Kampala (21.05), Maputo (24.05) and Johannesburg (26.05). Gauteng Gets eWaste Wise
ACER and The Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol teamed up to launch an eWaste initiative. This project saw a group of schools in Gauteng chosen to receive an eWaste bin proudly sponsored by ACER. The Miss Earth South Africa team and finalists launched the initiative along with Acer Brand Ambassador Paul Rothman last week at Crawford College and King David Linksfield. Learners were educated on the need for eWaste disposal and how they can actively ensure that they clean up their homes of eWaste. Read more…

New REEEP focal point in West Africa
REEEP activities in West Africa are getting a boost thanks the formation of the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE). The ECREEE Secretariat is based in Cape Verde and has the mission of establishing an enabling environment for renewable energy and energy efficient technologies in West African countries. In cooperation with its national focal institutions in all ECOWAS member states, the ECREEE Secretariat will support policy development, assist in the creation of tailored financial mechanisms, and conduct capacity building and awareness raising activities.
