As I have mentioned before I am in the process of building a Climate Compatible Development Thesaurus for our reegle energy information gateway. The Renewable Energy Thesaurus is already in place (but constantly undergoing improvements) already supports our clean energy web search as well as it brings you extensive renewables glossary with definitions and a visualization of related terms. Furthermore a thesaurus is a great way to structure data and make it retrievable.
Whereas I constructed the renewables energy thesaurus based on my own knowledge, I am no domain expert for climate change and climate compatible development, and therefore we have scheduled some interviews with researches in the particular fields. As most of them are based in the U.K., I will be traveling to London next week in order to be able to include their extensive knowledge into our new thesaurus.
My interview partners are from a wide variety of organizations, such as the IIED (International Institute for Environment and Development, the ODI (Overseas Development Institute), the IDS (Institute of Development Studies) at the University of Sussex as well as the University of Warwick and HEDON (Household Energy Network), Ecoharmony and Climate Change Solutions. Furthermore we will meet with our partners from the CDKN (Climate and Development Knowledge Network).
What I have in mind is the drawing out of a mind map with the input from those experts, with each one helping me to model their field of expertise. I am really exited about this as I believe this will help to establish reegle as the ideal gateway for both developers (data.reegle.info) and interested parties (web search, glossary).
Once I am back I will integrate all this knowledge into the Climate Compatible Development Thesaurus and link the terms to relevant open data sources and at the same time provide definitions from sources such as Wikipedia as well as reegle’s own.
I am sure the work will be a great benefit for all our users and I will let you know here once it is up and running in a few weeks time.
